Twisted Bread Sticks
1 Tbsp. yeast
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 cup warm water
3 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
- Add ingredients and mix 2-3 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Melt 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter in a 9x13.
- Roll dough out into a thin rectangle (just a little thicker than a place mat) and cut into strips about 1/4-1/2 inch wide.
- One-by-one, take an end in each hand. Twist each end in opposite directions while folding in half as you go. (Bottom picture shows finished bread stick a little better.)
- Place each twisted bread stick in butter as you place in pan. Squish them all in the pan together. Overlapping is OK.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 12-13 min. Don't wait for tops and bottoms to brown or they will be overcooked.
